Artists, Sara Tink Mapelli and Theodore Holdt created and completed the Golden Bee in the spring of 2016.  With the help of many hands the Golden Bee was built out of a Leed Platinum Green Material called Covintec.   We went the extra mile with modern plumbing which includes a grey water system that waters the fruit trees, LED lighting and UV filtered drinking water taps at all the kitchen sinks .  The stunning views from the terraces are of Guanajuato's incredible colored buildings, the private garden is full of cactus' and citrus trees. The Golden Bee is located on the bus line.  There is a gated parking lot one block away with a 24 hour security guard.  Tara and David live on the second floor and they will be your Golden Bee welcome Committee. They can answer any questions you might have. They are super FABULOUS!!!!

The Queendom
Ground floor Suite

The Queendom is a fully furnished one bedroom apartment (sleeps 3 with a pull out couch).  It has a beautiful kitchen, with a large dining room table and french doors that open into the garden and glorious Garambullo cactus. For cozy nights there is a fireplace.  The Queendom has a huge brick dome ceiling in the kitchen.   For more photos and information click here.
 

The Panoromantica

The Panoromantica studio suite has the most incredible view of Guanajuato! Dine in your own artfully appointed, sunny kitchen. This suite has a queen bed.  There is a wonderful walk in shower/steam room with a long bench to lay on and separate washroom.  Relax in the living area or on the two private outdoor terraces. Here you will sleep under a beautiful brick dome with a glass cupola with a view of the night sky. Our whimsical creations and details will delight you! Sara Tink Mapelli

Sara is a builder and designed many of the the details of the Golden Bee, such as the pattern mold for the concrete tile floors.  Sara is also a mixed media artist. Theodore and Sara started beekeeping in 2001. She is known as the Bee Queen and dances with honey bees, you can visit her ​youtube channel here.  Sara has 35 years of experience helping people heal with her energy work called Transparent Body Energy Realignment.

 
Theodore Holdt

Theodore is a builder and inventor.  He is an incredible creative problem solver. Sara and Theodore have been building together since they were 23 years old.  Theodore is a prolific painter and you can see his works of art at theoholdt.com  It is in these paintings that Theodore explores his inner worlds.  You will see many of his works at the Golden Bee.

Tara and David live on the second floor in the CLOUDNEST. They are digital entrepreneurs who are traveling the world with their cat, Stoney. They enjoy meeting new people, eating amazing food, learning new things, and capturing fun experiences along the way.

Welcome to the Beauty of guanajuato

Location

The GOLDEN BEE is located on the Panoramica road which  encircles the whole town of Guanajuato. We are at the corner of Barrio Nuevo and the Panaramica just below  the neighborhood of Mellado.  When you arrive you will see the house which is surrounded by a stone wall and has a bright orange railing at the front door.  The Golden bee is on the upper side of the Panoramica. 

Check-in time is between 3pm and 8pm. Please no late check- ins.  Check-out time is by 11am the day of departure.
