We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful house built by 2 artists. We were staying in the ground floor Queendom room and every corner of the apartment revealed a new secret.There was a wonderful garden to relax in and enjoy the mountain views over Guanajuato. Carrie took care of us like family and was always ready to help. The best host ever! The accommodation is on a hill (hence the nice views), in 15 min you can easily walk to the city center or take a bus that passes by every minutes. A must visit! Sarah, Netherlands
We were delighted by our whole 6 week experience at the Golden Bee. The Queendom suite is spacious and has access to a lovely garden . The filtered water is a bonus as is the wonderful collection of art. The caretaker is friendly and helpful. The location is quiet and offers local walks to the Mirador de Rayes and the paths below. There is a small tienda across the street for basics and a pop up vegetable truck on Tuesday morning. The bus stops close to the entrance. The walk down to Centro takes 20 minutes. A 50 peso Taxi/Uber or 7 peso bus can bring you back uphill. Allan & Beth, Canada

I really like this big yard, the plants inside are very beautiful, especially the fairy column. The afternoon sun will shine into the kitchen and dining room to make the room more beautiful. Every place can see Sara's mind. The roof on the third floor you can enjoy the night view. There is a bus to the city center at the door, and there is a small shop opposite to buy fruit and eggs. The Queendom is such a fabulous place! If you love to cook like I do, then you will practically live in their fabulous kitchen. Sara and Theo are great hosts and responded quickly to any questions that came up. Very convenient to city bus, corner store, and walks into town. ROSS, USA
“This is a beautiful apartment, well equipped, with access to a nice garden. There is barely any traffic noise (even though it's located right on the Panoramica road) so the nights are nice and quiet. Beautiful view of the town, the centre of which is easily reached by bus, taxi or walking. There's a tap which provides filtered drinking water, dogs to pet, and nearby shops for milk, fruit and other small items.” Maarten, UK

What an inspired place! The photos online are only a suggestion of the experience at the “Queendom” - an artistic, grounding, gracious space that allows for rest and rejuvenation. All the amenities required for a foreign traveler are there complete with maps and suggestions for activities, food and transportation. My husband who has spent a lot of time in Mexico said it was the most quiet place he had been in Mexico. Even with a few neighborhood dogs barking, we would go to sleep with the sound of crickets and awake to the birds in the morning. Sara’s helpful and immediate communication made the plans for arrival seamless. She arranged for a driver to meet us at the León airport and bring us right to her door. Arturo, the driver was a delight and very informative. Carrie, the ever-cheerful caretaker was at The Golden Bee to greet us, get us oriented and make us feel at home. Throughout our visit, Carrie was always available for anything we needed with her generous spirit. The walk to town is okay for a few trips, made a little shorter by going through one of Guanajuato’s tunnels or a bit longer by going over the hill. Taxi service was readily available and inexpensive when we didn’t want to walk back up the hill. I truly am rejuvenated after our eight-day stay at The Golden Bee. I have made a new friend in the exquisite Sara and feel fortunate to have gotten to experience this precious place. Luanne & Ken, Canada

Our stay at Golden Bee was so special! The garden and extra design touches make the space a very peaceful and warm home away from home. The sunset views are spectacular and the location is ideal. We especially loved making breakfast every morning in the spacious gourmet kitchen. The best part of our stay at the Golden Bee were the tremendously warm and helpful hosts.

This is an amazing space! Very relaxing!! A great place to enjoy a leisure morning and a quiet night. It is about a 15 minute walk from town. This place is utterly magical! The home is a piece of art with many whimsical surprises.......I could imagine staying here for months comfortably. I loved every moment of our time at the Golden Bee- with so much thoughtful creativity poured into every detail, it is a true gem. I can't imagine a more beautiful place to stay in Guanajunato. This place was awesome! We loved the view, the decoration and the host! It is a beautiful and relaxing place. Super clean, very complete and everything worked out perfectly. It is around 15 min walking from the city center but walking through the streets of Guanajuato is definitely part of the experience. Carrie was fabulous! She was so funny and sympathetic and she had so many details that made our stay just perfect! Sara was also very friendly and helpful through the phone. We would 100% recommend this place and we can't wait to book our next vacation in Guanajuato just to have that view again! Thank you so much Carrie!

This is a wonderfully relaxing place and the hosts are great. We spent a month enjoying the city one day and reading in the garden the next day. Ubers, taxis, buses, and walking are all viable options for getting to the historic center. The huge, well-equipped kitchen of the Queendom was great for cooking. The wifi worked great and the weather in February was mostly sunny and between 70 and 80 degrees--perfect! Marylou, USA

We were fortunate to be able to stay in the biggest apt. the Queendom, on the first floor. What a magnificent place. After an exciting day in the beautiful town of Guanajuato with its ups and downs through tunnels and busy streets, getting back to that wonderful retreat to relax within the great rocky walls of this oasis was surperb. The place is spacious, dominated by the big and functional kitchen and dining area. A nice and cozy bedroom with a superb king sized bed and the bathroom next door with a large shower, is excellently planned and both functional and cozy. Sitting at the grand table and looking out into the garden simply makes you smile. The biggest cactus in town, lavender bushes and succulents. The extra living room with the fireplace can be used in multiple ways. We used it to set up our computer and work a bit. I think that Mexico offers a lot of intense input. Taking a break at this magic place on the crest of the canyon, looking down on the colorful houses and narrow streets of this great town, gave us the perfect balance between excitement and relaxation that balanced out our stay in a perfect way. A perfect retreat in Guanajuato
This home is dazzling. Exactly like the pictured but more magical. I'm confounded that people would stay elsewhere. The natural light alone is probably better than anywhere else you could stay within 100 miñes. After 20 years of traveling to over 30 countries, and 7 long stays in Mexico- it's the most beautiful, well designed, and creative home and garden I've ever seen. I narrated a two minute video for my family to show them all the brilliant architecture and beauty. I spent 3 full days here and only left the property to get a few food items across the street. I was able to read, work, enjoy the garden full of herbs and fruit--and a cactus that will capture your imagination forever. And I slept better than I had in weeks-the bed and pillows are perfect and the bedroom is really quiet. The shower is a marvel. And in winter the fireplace was a real treat. And one of the best parts are John and Robert. They are exactly the people you want to greet you and show you the tricks of the place-and they are just one floor away. Extremely friendly and laid back and fascinating they make you feel extremely welcome without ever making you feel that the property isn't your own during your stay. They even brought me wine! I'd recommend a stay here for people wanting peace and space and beauty and a celebration of a contemporary take on Mexican art and architecture. Even if you're otherwise staying downtown. I'd recommend a week or a long weekend here to reset. I also think it would be a brilliant place to come write a book, or get ready for some big change in your life. Jessica, USA
